Family Permanent Residence

If you have close family who are already permanent residents or citizens of New Zealand, you may be eligible to apply for residence under one of the following categories:

Partner

The applicant for a partner visa to New Zealand must be in a stable genuine relationship with a New Zealand citizen. The applicant may include dependent children.

Parents

New Zealand parent visa applicant must be able to demonstrate being supported by their adult child in New Zealand. This New Zealand resident or citizen child sponsoring the parent must also satisfy the criteria of having lived in New Zealand for at least 3 years, earning the required income and being of good character. Grandparents and legal guardian may be considered under the Parent Program but applicant must satisfy the health and character requirements.

Sibling and Adult Child

Applicant under this program must be at least 17 years old and have no other siblings or parents permanently living in their country of residence. Sponsor must be living in New Zealand for 3 years and provide an undertaking before being eligible to sponsor.

Dependent Child

Dependent children must be 16 years or younger and financially dependent on an adult for their living expenses. Either one or both parents must be a New Zealand permanent resident or citizen.
